Your duty of disclosure
Your insurance is based upon the information provided to the insurance company and you must ensure that all such information is complete and accurate, and that any facts that may influence the insurer’s decision to accept and pay a valid claim are disclosed. Failure to disclose material information may invalidate your insurance
and could mean that part, or all, of a claim may not be paid.
How to cancel
You may have a statutory right to cancel this insurance within a short period. Please refer to your policy summary or your policy document for further details. If you cancel you will receive a pro rata refund of premium from the insurer, some of whom may charge separate administration fee. We may also deduct an amount that reflects our administrative costs of arranging and canceling the insurance.
If you need to cancel your policy outside of this period for any reason, please return your certificate of insurance with a written request asking ourselves to cancel the policy giving a date and time of when you would like it canceled from. We can only cancel from the date we receive this written request. Unfortunately we can not back date cancellations.
Your policy will be canceled and a return premium will be calculated as per your policy document subject to the following administration
charges.
- A £45.00 administration charge applies plus any loss of commission clawed back by the insurer.
- Any outstanding premium finance or outstanding balance on your account will be deducted as usually this means you have not paid
the premium in full. - If you are paying by premium finance please do not cancel the direct debit. We will do this for you and resolve any outstanding balance.
- Administration fees and also Legal Assistance, Breakdown, Key Care, Personal Accident, PVP and Emergency Home Assistance or any other ancillary product purchased, are non refundable.
- If you have claimed on your policy there will be no refund of premium. Please refer to your policy booklet for further
Information. - Any marketing initiatives which involve a discount exercised by The Policy Shop will be clawed back should the contract be canceled.
Following the cancellation of your policy you will be refunded within forty days.
Fees and charges
Please note that in addition to premiums charged by the insurer we may, at our discretion make the following charges to cover our administrative costs under these Terms of Insurance Business. These will apply if you instruct us to carry out a mid-term adjustment, renewal, cancellation, or new insurance.

Default
We reserve the right to utilise a credit or debit card used at time of purchase to clear any outstanding amount following default, or cancellation of a policy which is on a premium finance plan or our Policy Shop’s own installment plan.
Complaints
It is our intention to provide a high level of service at all times. However if you have reason to make a complaint about our service you should contact Sean Byrne at the above address. You may be entitled to refer it subsequently to the Financial Ombudsman Service. You can contact the Financial Ombudsman Service by telephone on 0845 080 1800 and further information is available at http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/
If you do decide to refer any matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service your legal rights will not be affected.
How to claim
Please refer to your policy summary or your policy document if you need to notify a claim. You should contact the insurer direct as soon as possible using the contact details provided. If in doubt about whom you should contact please contact us on 024 7650 8090.
Auto Renewal
We reserve the right to renew policies automatically should we not receive a clear instruction from a policyholder to lapse or cancel their insurance prior to the renewal date.
Protecting your information
All personal information about you will be treated as private and confidential (even when you are no longer a customer), except where the disclosure is made at your request or with your consent in relation to administering your insurance, and except where law requires us. The FSA may ask us to provide it with access to our customer records in order that it may carry out a review of our activities.
Some or all of the information you supply to us in connection with your insurance proposal may be passed to other insurance companies for underwriting and claims purposes. Under the Data Protection Act 1998 you have a right of access to see personal information about you that is held in our records, whether electronically or manually. To make sure you get our best deal and to ascertain the most appropriate payment options for you and to protect you from fraud, we use public and personal data from a variety of sources, including a credit reference agency and other organisations. Our search will appear on your credit report whether or not your application proceeds. By agreeing to the terms and conditions you agree to these uses of your information.
Protecting your money
Prior to your premium being forwarded to the insurer, and for your protection, we hold your money as an agent of the insurer (in which case your insurance is treated as being paid for). We may need to transfer your money to another intermediary in some cases. However your money will be protected at all times because of our requirements under the FSA rules. We also reserve the right to retain interest earned on this account.
By accepting these Terms of insurance Business you are giving your consent for us to operate in this way.
Compensation arrangements
We are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. You may be entitled to compensation from the scheme if we cannot meet our obligations. This depends on the type of business and the circumstances of the claim. Most Insurance contracts are covered for 90% of the claim, without any upper limit. Our Suppliers
In relation to Private Motor, Household, Motorcycle, and Commercial Vehicle Insurance the insurer has been selected on a fair market analysis of the market using our panel of insurers. In relation to the additional products of legal assistance and breakdown insurance the insurer has been selected on the basis of a limited number of insurers specifically selected from our experience and expertise and we are not contractually obliged to offer insurance from this panel. In relation to all other additional products we offer to compliment the main policy, the insurer has been selected on the basis of a single insurer selected as being suitable following an assessment of similar products commonly available, and we are not contractually obliged to offer insurance from this insurer.
